So you've just found your CALL device and you're not quite ready to see what hitting the [TRANSPORT] button does. Instead, you start looking around on the messaging apps to see who you can talk to: the HERO Network for heroes, the CAD network for villains, and the CALL network if curious to see who might answer. Need advice? Want to see what other people feel about an issue? Go for it...



CITY OF NIGHTMARE

So you actually hit that [TRANSPORT] button and while you can't say that the City of Tomorrow where you started at isn't neat and all but there's just so much to explore. But as you make your way across the bridge, a sudden rainstorm begins. Through the gloom and the lightning, you can make out a single building in the distance. It's not particularly welcoming, of course, but it does at least look dry and reasonably sturdy. What could go wrong here? Hopefully, someone in there has an idea of when the rain might stop. Or... someone will come soon?



CITY OF ROMANCE

It is a singularly beautiful night out in the City of Romance, even more singularly beautiful than most of the nights there, which are usually pretty nice. The sky is clear and dark, and it's just the right temperature out for a late picnic or a night of stargazing. It appears that some enterprising soul has put out a number of blankets in the park, though there are a limited number of them so you may have to share...



CITY OF ADVENTURE

You've been in the wilds of the City here for the last few hours. Hot, sweaty, and more than a little uncomfortable given the number of mosquito, you would almost think that someone heard your silent prayers as you come through the trees and spy the most amazing looking waterfall. Obviously, you've learned that many things are not as they seem in this City and that the beautiful can hide all manner of mysteries... but damn if that pool doesn't look like it'd feel amazing to dive into.

It said hero on the button so do I assume I'm talking to someone heroic? I'm not asking for secret identity names or anything, but it'd be pretty sweet if I was talking to someone of relative status on earth

Also there's a button that says TRANSPORT

I'm pretty sure they don't have that on the iPhone 10 or wherever we are now so what the heck is that

( so scott has a trigger-happy issue with new buttons to press that he knows nothing about, sue him. he presses the transport button once and he's in a pretty city, presses it again and ends up in... well. somewhere pretty damn nature-y and hot enough he feels he could pass out any minute. mostly he thinks maybe he should just poke the button until he gets back home; he found out what he wanted to find out, so now all he has to do is head to hank and ask him to help figure out the device in his hands. there's absolutely no need to stay any longer--

or at least that's what he thinks until he sees the waterfalls.

now, scott isn't someone who's travelled a lot, and he's sure he's never actually seen a real life waterfall in the flesh. it's amazing, one way or the other. it's one of those things he should be taking a picture of for any future postcards or maybe even christmas cards ("merry christmas and happy holidays! here's santa's favourite slide. love, scott"). but more than amazing, it's freaking cool. )

You're so loud! ( because, yeah, the first thing anyone in their right mind would do is shout at running water (but to his credit, it is really loud). scott laughs. ) Wow, talk about fancy...

And I meant both, actually. No pain, just kind of a quick flash and then you're standing in something out of a pulp cover. They even call it the City of Tomorrow, though it's just part of a larger place.

But uh my own devolution into a ten year old aside the city of tomorrow sounds like something out of a really old sci-fi movie. Is it pretty there? Does it look like home?

Any crazy futuristic things that they don't have on... where we come from?

That's what it looks like, though there's some pretty futuristic stuff around here too. There's flying cars, for one. A massive satellite above the city for another. I'd mention the robots and the aliens, but I do have teammates and that might be a little rude to some of them.

And I'm sure it'd be very nice to meet you too, 'Antman'.

[Dave is king of comments out of place, so he doesn't mind Scott talking to the water. It's funny, kinda cute even. And hey, the sight is amazing, he can't deny that. Amazing and pretty cool, so he's surprised by this man's choice of words.]

I didn't know waterfalls could be fancy. Should I be wearing a tuxedo?

[Dave can't help chuckling at that startled whoa, then realizes he's probably becoming his master. Not the best of realizations, really.]

Ah, yeah, hi. [That's his way to make up for the surprise. Sorry there. Still indeed! Have a smile, Scott.] I had never seen a waterfall in person before, so I don't know about "before" but... yeah, it's pretty sweet. I wish I could bring Becky here...

Man, even if you've never seen a waterfall before, you gotta admit this is a crazy pretty one. ( the kid gives him a smile so scott gives him a bigger one. awesome. smiles from strangers are a good sign, and he's sure if the guy was here to mug him (in the jungle?) he'd have done it while scott didn't know he was there.

Is Becky someone special? ( of course he has to ask. ) I got a girl I wanna take here, too--a Cassie. But she'd probably shadow the waterfall's prettiness with her own, so maybe it's okay she isn't around, heh.

[A nod as he approaches. The man isn't so bad, so Dave feels a bit less awkward than usual. Nice to be able to make conversation, even if it's in the middle of the jungle.]

I could do without the mosquitoes, but-- yeah, it's beautiful. Made the trip worth it, even if I don't find anything else.

[This jungle is supposed to have some lost temples and treasure after all. When Scott asks about Becky, Dave's smile changes. It's bigger, and kinda goofy, that lovestruck kind of look that only a nerd in love can have.]

Special as in my girlfriend, yeah. She'd be prettiest around, though. I mean, I'm sure Cassie is great and all, but yeah. [Don't make him fight for his girl, bro.]

(Yeah. There's a six foot tall, dark haired woman in what looks like a Captain America-themed armoured bathing suit and a golden rope secured to her hip behind him. And she heard that.)

I take it this place is new to you as well?

Whoa. ( that's the first thing that comes out of scott's mouth when he sees swimsuit model captain(ess) cowgirl america. talk about new sights, indeed.

he has to look up at her to talk to her and that's kind of insane. )

Uh, yeah, it's really new. Pretty and new and--how tall are you?

(she's used to that reaction. The sudden, mid-sentence segue earns him a curious quirk of her eyebrow)

"About six feet, I believe."

(She's barefoot at the moment, her trademark white-striped boots (with a flat-ish heel) have been set aside, as she intended on sitting with her feet in the water before Scott teleported in.)

That's amazing! You're the tallest lady I've ever met. ( all there is is simple honesty, and scott looks down at his own shoes before offering her a grin. ) Have you ever swam here before? Can your feet reach the bottom?

These aren't weird questions, are they?

(Simple honesty is something else Diana is very accustomed to. Her presence tends to inspire such in most people. She smiles, and laughs- not unkindly, shaking her head.)

The pool varies in depth, from my experience. I've not found it to have any undertow, but it does get very deep in some places. And worry not about your questions, I've been asked much stranger, I assure you.

(Despite the star-spangled look, she has something of an accent, something close to, but not quite Greek.)
