Setting and FAQ | Rules | Network FAQ | Game FAQ

NETWORK

So you've just found your CALL device and you're not quite ready to see what hitting the [TRANSPORT] button does. Instead, you start looking around on the messaging apps to see who you can talk to: the HERO Network for heroes, the CAD network for villains, and the CALL network if curious to see who might answer. Need advice? Want to see what other people feel about an issue? Go for it...

CITY OF NIGHTMARE

So you actually hit that [TRANSPORT] button and while you can't say that the City of Tomorrow where you started at isn't neat and all but there's just so much to explore. But as you make your way across the bridge, a sudden rainstorm begins. Through the gloom and the lightning, you can make out a single building in the distance. It's not particularly welcoming, of course, but it does at least look dry and reasonably sturdy. What could go wrong here? Hopefully, someone in there has an idea of when the rain might stop. Or... someone will come soon?

CITY OF ROMANCE

It is a singularly beautiful night out in the City of Romance, even more singularly beautiful than most of the nights there, which are usually pretty nice. The sky is clear and dark, and it's just the right temperature out for a late picnic or a night of stargazing. It appears that some enterprising soul has put out a number of blankets in the park, though there are a limited number of them so you may have to share...

CITY OF ADVENTURE

You've been in the wilds of the City here for the last few hours. Hot, sweaty, and more than a little uncomfortable given the number of mosquito, you would almost think that someone heard your silent prayers as you come through the trees and spy the most amazing looking waterfall. Obviously, you've learned that many things are not as they seem in this City and that the beautiful can hide all manner of mysteries... but damn if that pool doesn't look like it'd feel amazing to dive into.

WILDCARD!

Go wherever your heart leads you!

[ The girl who comes limping down the stairs with dust in her hair and an obvious foul mood was most probably the source of the scream. She's roughly 17, with long dark hair and dark eyes and her clothes are all black, but in a way that doesn't seem to reflect any light at all. She sighs, just a little, and tries to straighten out, wincing as she steps with her right foot. Her voice, when she speaks, has a distinct Irish accent. ]

I'm all right. Sorry for the noise. I was, er, well, investigating [ it sounded so silly when she said it without Skulduggery around ] and some of the lot from the closet fell on my head. Startled me.

[ ...wait- ]

Er, not to be rude but... who're you? And what're you doing here?

[ Weren't all sane people in places that weren't here? ]

( it's curious, to ivy, that she can meet people here and not know anything about them, or only know the things they have written or produced after pressing the transport button.

she's never been faced with knowing so little about so much. )

I'm the Archive. I came to look if you were all right. ( as though that is self-explanatory. she was passing by; to her, it is. )

[ Oh, there was a 'the' on there. Hmm. That sounded more like sorcerer business than normal business, but she'd wait and see. ]

Well, I'm Valkyrie. And I'm all right. Though it might be best if we stay in here for the moment.

[ She glanced out the window. ]

So far, it's mostly just a bit spooky as opposed to anything really harmful. And the rain seems apt to soak you to the bone after one step.

It feels like someone who's a lot of fun but it'll be temporary. Maybe if I'm lucky, someone who'll end up a friend.

/Mineral/?

Hold on a second, wait, whoa

When you say "gem", do you mean... ACTUAL gems?

Yes...? Are there some other kind of gems?

Recently, my world died.

My favourite cookies are bacon-maple ginger snaps. At least for the moment.

Thank you. Things got better, fortunately.

Let me know how you like 'em! :-D

"The performing part wasn't really part of my plans but..." he spread his hands. "It worked out in the end, I think."

He liked to think. As much as anything else in his life has ever worked out. Honestly, the whole thing is mostly frustrating because he'll always wonder what he could have done if he'd been there earlier.

"And I guess 'warrior' isn't wrong. 'Soldier's the word I tend to use, though."

Heya kid.

I don't bake, but I have a package of Oreos here and I learned how to share in kindergarten.

Short version? Welcome to the new universe, same as the old universe, except not really. Magic, you know?

( ivy knows legends of the valkyrie, and songs made after those legends, and a great deal more. she hasn't ever met someone by that name, though. )

I don't get wet unless I want to.

( the archive keeps her from intervening in history, in the world's affairs, from taking sides and being partial, but it does not keep her from protecting herself. quite the opposite, really — the archive is protective of its host, and so it is easy for ivy to stay dry. )

It would be faster if we used the Transport function to meet, than for me to use public transport in Kincaid's absence.

[personal profile] story_and_teller 2016-05-19 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
It was a group effort, as I understand it. I was a little busy with other things myself.

[personal profile] wizard_dresden 2016-05-21 05:05 am (UTC)(link)
There's a transport function? But, yeah, if it's safer than a bus or something, sure. If I knew where I was, I could tell you how to get here.
